Walkers' World
Guided Walking and Sightseeing Holidays in
Turkey

2008 Dates  Oct 3 - Oct 18   (starts Oct 4 in Istanbul)
At the crossroads of East and West, Turkey, with its Mediterranean sunshine, exotic culture and fascinating history beckons us. The landscapes are layered with remains of ancient civilizations that flourished here. St Paul trod the paths across Anatolia to reach Ephesus and today one can walk these trails and find early churches hidden in caves and decorated with amazingly vivid frescoes. On our walks we explore Byzantine castles, ancient Greek and Roman theatres and colourful Turkish bazaars. Along the Lycian coast pomegranate and orange trees shade streets of small villages that have been in existence for three thousand years. Rocky trails lead us to quiet coves where Crusaders once anchored on their way to the Holy Land. But Turkey is not just about history. The scenery is spectacular and the food is marvelous. The cuisine uses a variety of vegetables and fruits that flourish in this mild climate.

About Walkers' World walking and sightseeing holidays in Turkey:
Our tour covers three areas - the city of Istanbul, the south-western Lycian coastal region and the inland region of Cappadocia in central Anatolia. Because of the the distances in Turkey we take two flights within the country. Many of our stops are for two or more nights to avoid constant packing.
