Travelling to Provence

From North America the easiest way of getting to Provence is to fly to Paris. From Paris (Charles de Gaulle Airport) there are TGV fast trains directly to Avignon. The journey takes about three hours and there are trains every few hours. If you plan to spend a few nights in Paris first, there are frequent TGV trains from Paris Gare de Lyon to Avignon.  Schedules can be seen on the French Rail web-site www.sncf.fr and tickets can be ordered from www.raileurope.com/canada or Teachers Travel can order these tickets for you.

Another possibility way of getting to Provence is to fly to Marseille (usually connecting via London) and from here it is just a half hour train ride to Avignon.

If you would like to combine a week in Provence with a week in the Languedoc Region, there is a train directly from Avignon to Collioure which takes about three hours.
